About me
Following my Teaching Degree, and after a short stint as Santa's helper and Sales Assistant at Harrods, I started my career in Media, working my way up from office Runner at a small satellite television company to Marketing Director at Discovery Communications.
It was in Broadcasting that I developed my organisational skills and learned how to manage the creative process, production managing stills, film and promotional shoots, which took me from the vast tidal sands of Morecambe Bay and the windswept coast of Stornoway in the Hebrides, to 20 degrees below in the arctic circle of Sweden, an Apollo Launchpad at the Kennedy Space Centre and searching for leopards in the Masai Mara! |
Substantial business and industry growth during this time, meant the launch of more than a dozen network brands in more than 20 countries across Europe, allowing me to build skills in strategy, critical thinking and communication. This period also presented me with the opportunity to build and mentor highly successful marketing production departments, leading teams across a complex matrix structure and managing a wide range of budgets covering small projects to major campaigns and entire business units.
Alongside the planning and delivery of integrated campaigns, international branding and sponsorship initiatives, I was also involved in the development of CSR and Employee Engagement events and set up and chaired an employee group for working parents.

Throughout my career, I have pursued my interest in working with young people; volunteering with school reading schemes, becoming a school Governor, taking a leadership role at my local Scouts group, and more recently taking on part-time Teaching and Lecturing roles. Alongside this, I have been furthering my passion for heritage, wildlife and the natural world; volunteering and training with The National Trust and Wildlife Trust, developing my wildlife and landscape photography, and expanding my knowledge and understanding of conservation and sustainability.
My ambition is to utilise my varied skills and experiences to help push creativity, communication and education to have a positive and meaningful impact on the word.
